Very important to hold the line against feminism and modern day liberalism. If someone wants that, they can go find a PCUSA or some other denomination, but not the PCA. Hold firm to God’s word and the application that everyone had of it until the recent 1940’s post-war consensus longhouse
Obey the Great Commission, which is a commandment to all who have believed the gospel. Preach the whole counsel of God.
The head of every woman is her husband. The head of every man is Christ. The head of Christ is God the Father. There is no one in between Christ and every man, or between a man and his wife.
However, almost without exception, in PCA and other Reformed/Presbyterian churches, many who are officers, experts, or both (such as the typical pastor with seminary education, or a "biblical" counselor), talk and behave legislatively and magisterially between Christ and man, or between man and his wife. This creates hierarchy or ruling according to expertise, qualifications and popular vote, over and against rule by divine appointment. Women may avail themselves of any system of status based on expertise, qualifications, or popularity, and many do.
But, there are different commands and commendations from God to men and women, according to His word. Who will labor diligently in the Word and declare all to us?
The person who commented "where are all the women?" needs to hear the gospel according to the witness of the Holy Spirit as to their truly great need for salvation. Then, when they hear God's commands to women, they will joyfully pursue those things and find "all the women" are there alongside.
Because the preface and the body of the BCO states this disqualification of women holding any type of "office", and or reading scripture in the PCA does not mean it still isn't practiced. I can attest to this personally. Here in the wild west of the the PCA Northeast, at least in this one PCA church, women still read scripture and pray from a side pulpit. Not specifically on subject but it seems to be headed that way. Excellent article, Mr. Isbell
It seems pretty clear in 1st Timothy 3:1-7 that only men are qualified to be overseers, elders, bishops, pastors, ministers, and preachers, and also pretty clear in 1st Timothy 3:8-13 that only men are qualified to be deacons. So where is the controversy? Sola Scriptura.
In addition, no women is to hold authority over a man. 1st Timothy 2:12 “I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.” All things should be in proper order.
Men or women who object to men only leadership should look elsewhere for a church that doesn’t respect the Holy Scriptures. Women do play a major role in our churches, but not in leadership positions. Serving, loving, caring for others, and supporting the activities of the church are nobel and good.
In the New Testament letters there are repeated clear commands for believers to honor and submit to elders/leaders-- some variation of diction. It is the ambit of the fifth commandment. Imagine if such dodgy murk was worked up around the 7th commandment. The commands about leaders arise from a major theme in the New Testament. They aren't just contextually cued directives, nor are they merely legal particulars. The practices and tendencies referenced in your article corrupt discipleship.

The women are baking cookies!

I think it is time to cull those who persist in resistance to this through discipline and judicial process.
