Arguably, unaccountable elders may be worse than the old congregational-independent models.— or elders chosen to be “yes” men.

Right, sin is undefeated at messing up local churches, but good polity gives us a fighting chance against it.

I’m so sorry for whatever you are going through. I will pray for you and your situation. Understand that you may not see justice in this lifetime but the Lord is watching. Do congregants have effective access to church courts in the PCA? Seems like anyone pursuing a cause through the church courts would be disciplined for disturbing the peace and purity of the church.

Certainly, they have access. I have first-hand knowledge of several cases. None were disciplined. In fact, an amendment was passed at GA in 2024 that would make it easier for congregants to get assistance in the courts.
